Rooftop Engagement

Now that I’m back in Texas I couldn’t find a better way to start my photography journey here than by photographing my sister-in-law‘s engagement session.

What seems like only yesterday, she and I would play “model and photographer” with a point and shoot camera and whatever outfit we could conjure up, now we have grown up and are no longer playing. We started from the bottom, now we’re here!

12 years later, I am now running a full-time photography business and she is getting married! (Insert squealing school girl) Her fiancé is a very tall, soft spoken yet hilarious man with a budding Christian rap career ahead of him. And the fact that he is a fellow creative makes him número uno in my book.

When planning for their engagement session we wanted capture who they are as a couple. They are fun loving and always laughing; which I believe is the best feature to have in a marriage. Their images were to be candid and relaxed with minimal posing and full of life and vibrancy. Our session began early in the afternoon surrounded by a plethora of sightseers, tourists and photographers. But we found ways to find nooks and crannies hidden within the Pearl Brewery.

The Pearl Brewery is a hotspot for photography sessions. It is an industrial yet quaint little court yard full of bustling restaurants and small businesses that caters to those who still appreciate a slow quality of life and a sense of community. It’s very difficult to spend your afternoon staring at your phone while sitting and enjoying the comradery between other humans. From alfresco dining to bustling courtyard the Pearl brewery is the perfect location we made multiple stops along the way. Engagement sessions are meant to be fun yet romantic and this was definitely it.
